Rev. Dr. Johannon R. Tate BS, MA, DMin.
Rev. Dr. Johannon R. Tate was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. His religious and spirtual foundation were cultivated at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. C. V. Jetter, where he accepted Christ at the tender age of 5. Throughout his youth, Dr. Tate worked faithfully in the church as an Usher, Jr. Deacon and Youth Choir Member until departing for military service.
After returning from the Navy he served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, Trustee, Armor Bearer, Director of Church Affairs and Executive Assistant to the Pastor. Each of these roles prepared him to accept his call to the ministry. After a great deal of study and prayer, Dr. Tate was subsequently licensed and ordained to preach the Gospel. Dr. Tate served as the Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church for one year; and as the Pastor of Christian Education at the Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Dr. Tate has proudly served as the pastor of Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH since February 2019.
A great propoent of education, Dr. Tate graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Psychology with a Criminal Justice Minor From Martin University in 2009. In 2011, Dr. Tate. earned his Master of Arts degree in Applied Sociology with a Community Leadership Focus from University of Indianapolis and was inducted as a Lifelong Member into Alpha Kappa Delta - The International Sociological Honor Society in the same year. Dr. Tate earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree in 2018 from South University in Savannah, Georgia. He also holds various certifications and credentials related to Church Tax Laws, Fundraising, Team Building, Conflict Resolution and various aspects of medicine including behavioral and mental health therapy and counseling.
Dr. Tate is the son of Dr. (Hon) William L. Tate and the Rev. Patrice L. Searcy M. Div; both of whom raised him to value his relationships with God and family. He enjoys reading, playing golf and basketball, volunteerism and participating in robust conversations about various topics. Dr. Tate is also very passionate about serving God’s people inside and outside of the pulpit, especially where social justice issues are concerned.
Dr. Tate is married to Lady Kori L. Tate, RN, MSN, MBA and they are the proud parents of one daughter, Kaylin and one son, Johannon II.
